Mood Disorders
Depression
Does it feel effortful to get through the days? Depressive disorders are marked by significantly depressed mood for a prolonged period of time, diminished interest, fatigue, hopelessness, changes in weight and sleep, difficulty concentrating, and recurrent thoughts of death.
Bipolar Disorder
Are mood symptoms punctuated by periods of persistently elevated or irritable mood, grandiose thoughts, reduced need for sleep, increased activity, and risky behaviors? These symptoms are highly disruptive, often without the person being fully aware of the impact on their life.
I have years of experience in treating depression and bipolar disorder. I take the time to get to know the people I work with so we can identify strategies that limit the disruptiveness of mood symptoms.
